Some New Yorkers Not Happy About Captain America Statue
After it's unveiling at SDCC, the 13-foot-tall Captain America statue is scheduled to be set up in Prospect Park on Wednesday. But park-goers have an issue with the 1-ton bronze figure taking up temporary residence there. Green activists say the space is designated as commercial-free and the giant Steve Rogers is basically a commercial for Marvel Entertainment.
Those who are upset won't have to look at it for long, the statue will only be there for two weeks before heading down to a plaza outside Barclays Center through September and then over to a new Bed, Bath & Beyond in Sunset Park until the end of the year.
This thing seems to be bouncing around more than the Stanley Cup. If Marvel needs a place to store it when the 75th Anniversary tour is done, I got a spot in my backyard it can hang out in.
