Spider-Gwen And The Future Of The Marvel Multiverse

So some are concerned with recent interviews with Marvel apparatchiks that the upcoming Secret Wars will lead to a unified Marvel universe, rather than the multiverse that has informed so many stories in their comics, from Spider-Men line, to All-New X-Men, to the Fantastic Four, to the Avengers – and especially Spider-Verse.

In an interview with Diamond Comics, Jason Latour told them, "Well, again, for the time being and hopefully for quite some time, Gwen will be exploring her own version of the Marvel U. Having that clean slate will give us a tremendous opportunity to explore more of the characters we introduced in Edge Of Spider-Verse. It's essential that we get to build that core cast that informs who Gwen Stacy is as much if not more than her spider powers. So we'll see a lot of her father, Captain Stacy, and her band The Mary Janes, and we'll also meet a lot of new takes on Marvel heroes and villains."

So for those thinking, as Marvel is leading you to believe that the collapse of all realities into the Battleworld of the new Secret Wars is indeed the new reality going forward… could Spider-Gwen's universe, and lack of initial crossover wit other realities, indicate a long turn survival for the Marvel multiverse, post Secret Wars?
