Terrific Production LLC Interested in Brian Wood for Youngblood
Last week, former Comics Alliance Editor-in-Chief Laura Hudson spoke out about an experience with comic book writer Brian Wood, adding to 2013 sexual harassment allegations by Tess Fowler about Wood, and leading to Dark Horse canceling an upcoming Aliens comic to be written by Wood and ceasing the pursuit of future projects with him. But while Wood may no longer be working with Dark Horse, at least one publisher is willing to offer him the opportunity for future work. And if you guessed that publisher was Terrific Production LLC, then… well, it was an easy guess, honestly.
Terrific took to Twitter on Tuesday to contact Wood, asking him to submit samples for a potential opportunity to write Youngblood prose.
Since obtaining the rights to Youngblood, a fact which creator Rob Liefeld was not happy with, Terrific has been actively recruiting on Twitter, even offering to take young up-and-comers like Ryan Stegman and turn them into stars. Terrific has even made overtures toward Alan Moore, as well as David Lapham, James Tynion IV, and Evan Dorkin, amongst others.
It looks like Terrific wants Wood not for a Youngblood comic, but for a new line of prose novels it will be launching, which may or may not (the tweet is not clear) include novels by Moore, Mark Millar, and Robert Kirkman.
In other news, Terrific is trying to decide whether it would be worthwhile to advertise their upcoming comics on Spotify, as the publisher is unsure whether there is any crossover between comic book fans and the streaming service's 217 million active users.
The saga continues…
