The Final Volume Of Courtney Crumrin Makes The Dwayne McDuffie Award For Kids' Comics 2016 Shortlist

It's a good day for Oni Press' Courtney Crumrin, as the 7th and final volume makes the second annual Dwayne McDuffie Award for Kids' Comics 2016 shortlist. Written and illustrated by Ted Naifeh, Courtney Crumrin Volume 7: Tales of a Warlock, is the final installment in the beloved series about a young girl finding her way in the world of witchcraft.

The story delves into the past of Courtney's Uncle Aloysius, who eagerly offered to assist the Anti-Sorcery Society when he was a young man, despite his magical ancestry. But he doesn't count on Alice Crisp, Horace's tenacious daughter, accompanying him on missions, or on trusting her with his secret… or on falling in love. Which proves more dangerous than anything when Horace becomes his enemy…

Children's and Young Adult Bloggers' Literary Awards (CYBILS), 2015 Graphic Novel Finalist spoke about the book by saying:

"This volume works well as a standalone for readers new to the series, who will almost certainly seek out the rest of the books after reading this one."

That's something I always like to hear. Sometimes it can be a bit daunting to turn to a new title that has so many volumes out already, but if we can be gripped by the last one, it's a sure incentive to grab a copy. I read the first few volumes of Courtney Crumrin a few years ago, and was very pleased. The writing is great, and the art style is truly magnetic. Grab your copy of Courtney Crumrin Volume 7: Tales of a Warlock today.
