Top 100 Comics In October 2015 – From Iron Man To Black Magick

This is the Top 100 list of comic book ordered by the North American direct comic book market through Diamond Comic Distributors, excluding the UK for still-unknown reasons.

Marvel not only got the top ten to themselves, but got 18 of the top twenty, with Batman and Justice League preventing a clean sweep. Indeed surprising new for the launch of Batman & Robin Eternal, out of the of twenty completely.

Image's launch of Paper Girls hit the 23rd spot, with the regular Walking Dead title close behind at 26, and IDW's Back To The Future in at 27 on Back To The Future Day. I Hate Fairyland debited at 42 with We Stand On Guard at 53. Fight Club 2 from Dark Horse got the 60th place while the Jughead launch from Archie came in at 71. Invader Zim #4 established itself as a top 100 comic from Oni, at 71.

Tokyo Ghost is at 83, Black Magick launched at 99. And Valiant's Book Of Death came in at 96.

It was a big month for comics. Batman only got the eleventh spot. IDW, did well with the launch of Back To The Future #1 in at number 23, two spots for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at 67 and 95, and one each for Jem And The Holograms at 76 and Star Trek/Green Lantern at 97. Grumpy Cat from Dynamite came in at 90…

The disparity between the ranking in quantity sold and dollars earned doesn't always rely on the price of the book and can expose some retailer incentives.Guardians Of The Galaxy got a discount deal, so it learnt less for Marvel than Shattered Empire, even though more were ordered. Something similar was happening with a number of Marvel titles, from Karnak, to Captain America: Sam Wilson to Squirrel Girl. And Book Of Death #4, though a $3.99 comic was bought by retailers as if they were being charged the amount for a $2.99 book.

Also worth considering – that if Batman did around 100,000, we have a whole top ten that did as well… in some cases a lot better.
