Valiant Makes Theirs Milkshake, Hires Heather Antos as Editor
Valiant Entertainment's latest hire is former Marvel Comics editor Heather Antos, returning to superhero comics after leaving Marvel less than a year ago to become the editor-in-chief of ESports betting site Unikrn. Antos edited Star Wars titles at Marvel before leaving, and was at the center of the #MakeMineMilkshake controversy in 2017, which saw the hashtag trend in support when Antos and other Marvel female employees were harassed on social media after Antos posted a photo of the gang drinking milkshakes. Antos continued to edit come creator-owned comics while working at Unikrn, including Bitter Root at Image.
ComicsBeat had the EXCLUSIVE announcement, revealing that Antos will start work on the new Livewire series and will eventually develop her own stable of books. The Beat's Alex Lu interviewed Antos, who explained her decision to return to superhero comics:
I'm an extremely competitive person by nature and have always had a love for video games, so when the opportunity came about to learn more about and explore this rapidly growing industry, I couldn't say no! Ultimately, though, my true passion has always been about the human connection we get through storytelling – especially through comics – which is why I'm here today, I suppose!
The Beat also had an official press release quote from Antos on joining Valiant:
There is no better time than right now to join Valiant. The creative teams, characters, and stories have never looked stronger and I'm excited to collaborate with editorial on even greater stories as we build toward the release of BLOODSHOT in theaters February 2020. From X-O Manowar to Livewire, Quantum & Woody to Faith, there is a Valiant character for everyone, and I'm excited to bring these characters to new readers.
