After decades of oversaturation, in 2014, Marvel killed off Wolverine. Even with multiple Wolverine's filling the void, it was still a quiet 154 weeks without the stabby little runt. Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and Wolverine is back. And what better way to show that he's back than by having multiple simultaneous event comics dedicated to his return?

It's with that in mind that we pick up Hunt for Wolverine: Weapon Lost #1. As we learned in Hunt for Wolverine #1, the X-Men asked Daredevil to look into the disappearance of Wolverine's body from its adamantium tomb. So, appropriately enough, the store begins in Hells Kitchen, with Daredevil explaining why it's best not to keep records for legal reasons. If only Donald Trump had the foresight to hire Matthew Murdock instead of Michael Cohen! Daredevil also helpfully informs us that…

After using his enhanced hearing to perform illegal surveillance on the people of New York City, Daredevil goes to meet with a man on a flying motorcycle.

No, sadly, Harry Potter is not crossing over into the Marvel Universe. It's Frank McGee, a former New York City Detective, now head of security for the city of New Attilan, who was turned into an Inhuman back during the dark days when Marvel was desperately trying to get people to accept the Inhumans as a replacement for mutants. It didn't work.

Daredevil wants McGee's help on this Wolverine case, but McGee isn't sure which Wolverine Daredevil is talking about…

He forgot about Daken, Honey Badger, and Jonathan. In any case, once Daredevil explains it's the original Wolverine, McGee is all in. This could be the ticket to associate himself with another franchise and escape the mess Marvel made of the Inhumans. He's got to take it!

Meanwhile, in Brooklyn, Misty Knight thwarts an armed robbery at a bar without getting out of her seat. Daredevil and McGee show up afterward to try and convince Misty to join his Wolverine hunting party. Misty isn't interested, being out of the heroing business (and into the brooding business) for undisclosed reasons, so Frank offers to talk to her. Did you know they are both former cops? We're going to hear alot about that over the next few pages.

X-pository dialogue reveals that Misty respects Frank because he's such a good cop and she's totally familiar with his cop record. They talk about cop stuff, like how McGee quit the force after his fellow officers treated him weirdly when he got Inhuman powers. Having finished that, he then briefly recounts Misty's origin story as a former cop who quit after losing her arm and being assigned to a desk job before she got a bionic arm and became an ass-kicking Marvel hero. Being a cop is in their blood, or something like that. Cop cop cop cop.

Now that they've cop-bonded, Frank asks Misty why she doesn't want to hero anymore. Though she tells him, readers aren't privy to her answer. We're not sure if this is a secret to be revealed later or something that happened in a previous Marvel comic. In any case, Misty joins the team, so they all get in Misty's flying car ("Of course I've got a flying car. What is it, amateur hour?" she quips) and go to recruit the next member, a contact of Misty's who turns out to be… freaking Doug Ramsey, codename Cypher, the formerly dead (New Mutants #60, the conclusion of the Birdbrain storyline) New Mutant who is no longer dead (he returned in the X-over event Necrosha)! It's nice to see him, but Doug has used his mutant power to learn any language toward learning the language of the internet, and, well…

We've all been there.

Frank has seen enough, so he shoots out the internet connection, causing Doug to freak out, grab a machine gun, and start firing it while demanding they hook his internet back up. Daredevil knocks him out and they take him to a diner and he agrees to join the team. His first task is to find Wolverine using a smartphone, which he does in about 10 seconds, determining that Wolverine sightings have been occurring all over the globe. The issue ends here.

We were expecting this to be a kinda boring filler of a tie-in comic, but it was actually pretty witty, and the stuff with Doug was unexpected and bonkers. We'd still prefer Wolverine stay dead, of course, but what are you gonna do? At least we're enjoying the ride.
