XCT Conquers Australia: Prepares For World Domination

Shaun Paulet writes for Bleeding Cool:

Success. How do you measure it?

Is it the amount of sales you make? The joy you bring to others? How much you earn? When someone tells you that you have done a great job?

Well for me, the creator of Xtreme Champion Tournament (XCT), it was hitting my first goal.

AdEarlier this year I was lucky enough to have an article featured on Bleeding Cool for my Kickstarter on my self-published series the Xtreme Champion Tournament (XCT). My goal was to raise the funds required to create the comic book that ran colourful and wild in my mind. With the help of friends, family, fans and the diverse and supportive comic book community, the Kickstarter was a success. Having achieved this, I thought that I would be satisfied with myself.

I had dreamed of my comic becoming successful and I always had doubts about this happening, due to the amount of talented comic creators who were distributing outstanding comic books at the moment. I never could have imagined that in three months since the Kickstarter ended, that I would be the number 1 self-published selling single issue comic in Australia.

I would love to say that independently, I had enough talent to produce XCT alone, but alas, I don't. Having no distributor as well as limited funds, both the convention circuit and the Australian comic book stores have been outstanding in promoting, stocking and selling XCT. The general public have responded with great enthusiasm purchasing the first issue (and many have asked for the next addition… *gulp*). Behind the creation of XCT stand a highly talented and passionate creative team including the dynamic Australian writer, Brendan Halyday and BOOM Studios duo, Jerry Gaylord and Gabriel Cassata doing pencils and colours making the comic one of the highest quality.

spartacusI have also been lucky enough to be asked to attend my first convention as a guest. This is not in my home country of Australia, but at Peoples Convention in Paris who are running a Spartacus Rebels Convention. This is extremely exciting and even now, hard to believe. I'm also currently working on Issue #1 which we hope to release in Paris for the Spartacus convention.

To celebrate we are offering Bleeding cool customers 25% off Issue #0 of XCT. All you have to do is head to www.xct.com.au and purchase either the PDF or hard copy of the comic. Use code bc2014 once you have added it to the cart and get 25% off. Hurry offer ends midnight the 11th of August 2014!

Ad1So from humble beginnings, where to from here? Well with Issue #1 of XCT due out in September and Issue #0 currently waiting to be distributed through Diamond, I sit back and reflect and set my new goal of World Domination!

Life is short so make sure you follow your dreams and be inspired!
