Zombie B.C. Creator Willing To Go Deep To Fund Project
Stephen Void writes for Bleeding Cool:
Hello Bleeding Cool readers, my name is Stephen Vold and I thank you for taking a peek at my comic book project called Zombie B.C. I am from Litchfield, MN and I currently live in the Minneapolis metro area. I've been a hardcore fan of horror and comics all my life. I would like to think my obsession with zombies is unquestioned.
I've been working on this comic for years and now we're actually beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. There have been a lot of ups and downs with this project and I'm finding out the hard way how difficult it is to create a finished product, then attempt to market it when you're not an established name. I have had some great sites throw me a plug along with tons of local businesses and comic book stores allowing me to put up promo pieces and I'm finally realizing how valuable social media (especially Twitter) can be. Since things started coming together in the last few months, I've been experiencing what some may call "Mid-life crisis", but I call it "Living on Cloud nine".
If you like a dark story involving zombies with a twist, this may be just for you. The cavemen don't speak, but you'll be guided through the story by an unseen narrator. I also get asked frequently if there are going to be dinosaurs and I will confess that this issue won't have any. We plan on launching Zombie B.C. in fall 2013 with a limited print of 250 full color issues. The goal is to release two more issues in the future and turn this into a 90 page graphic novel. I look forward to answering any questions you for me.
For this weekend I'd like to set up a Bleeding Cool challenge – From now until the end of Sunday night I will challenge you to pledge $500.00 dollars which will be rewarded with documenting me dressing up as a zombie caveman and going to a Minnesota Twins game on Monday or Tues to do some shameless publicity. I might also take my chance at annoying some people at the Mall of America too! If you want to see someone go the extra mile in humiliating themselves to get those pledges rolling… please contribute to the cause. For $1000.00 I'll get a cute babe to dress up as a cave woman to subject themselves to this alongside me. Check out our Kickstarter page for details.
