Capcom Announces North American Esports Street Fighter League
Capcom has announced a brand new North American esports league today for one of their properties as we will be seeing the Street Fighter League launch this Spring. This new league will feature 3-on-3 team battles in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, with six teams formed from a mix of vets, newbies, and players that are considered "fan favorites" from North America. The league is not looking to replace any tournaments or exclude players or withhold the rights to use SFV for tournaments, it's simply an additional league run by Capcom. Here are a couple quotes from this morning's press release about the new league.
"We thought adding team play to a Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition tournament series would bring a compelling layer of strategy and drama to the format," said Yoshinori Ono, Street Fighter series Executive Producer, Capcom. "We are exploring this new format within a new tournament series, in addition to our ongoing support of the existing popular Capcom Pro Tour. We hope our fans will enjoy this fresh perspective on Street Fighter esports and we'll be analyzing their feedback to incorporate into future seasons of the League."

You can find more info about registration and more on their website, however, the one thing left out of all this beyond dates is whether or not anyone will be competing for prizes or if it's all just in the spirit of competition. Hopefully, we'll know more before the end of February.
