Capcom is Offering $70,000 for Conclusive Proof of a Real Monster
As part of a promotion for Monster Hunter: World, Capcom is offering a sizeable sum to anyone who can find conclusive proof of one of a few real-life monsters.
People have searched for evidence of Big Foot, the Loch Ness monster and mermaids for a long ol' time. They've used scientific techniques and extensive research periods with literally thousands taking to the unknown to find their fortune. Thus far, they've remained elusive, and in our growing technological world, it seems harder and harder to argue their existence. However, Capcom has a pretty bizarre promotion for Monster Hunter: World though, and you could get a bunch of money if you prove one of ten of these long sought after beasts exist.
The game publisher is offering £50,000 (or $70,000 USD) if anyone can prove without a shadow of a doubt that a real monster exists. The Centre of Fortean Zoology has teamed up with the company to throw down the gauntlet to any would-be hunters. All you have to do is provide verifiable proof by June 30th and the money is yours. Here is an infographic of your possible targets.
Now, of course, proving any of these creatures exist by June 30th would be incredibly difficult. My guess is that this is probably more a clever PR stunt to get people talking about Monster Hunter: World's release, so in that regard, Capcom has succeeded as here I am (not that it is looking like they need it). Still, who knows. Maybe it will bring something up. The world is a big place full of lots of undiscovered mysteries.
