FACEIT Will Host the First Official Apex Legends Tournament
FACEIT announced today that, in partnership with T1, they will host the first official Apex Legends esports tournament in North America. The official name of this will be the "Apex Legends Invitational" and will happen in Santa Monica on March 30th. The company plans to invite 20 of the best streamer-lead teams to compete online for a $25k prize pool as they will broadcast the tournament live on Twitch starting at 2pm PDT.
As part of the announcement, Co-Founder & CBO of FACEIT Michele Attisani said, "Apex Legends is one of the most popular games in the world right now. The battle royale genre has truly set the gaming world alight and we're thrilled to keep playing a part in the development of the competitive community." It will be interesting to see how well the tournament does on Twitch with a number of other events happening that weekend, not to mention PAX East happening at the same time. We'll be on the lookout to see who the 20 streamers are, but honestly, it wouldn't shock us if it's some familiar faces who promoted the game when it got launched.
