From the Rumor Mill: Metroid Prime Trilogy to Be Announced
If you believe the latest rumors surrounding Nintendo properties, it sounds like we may be getting an announcement for a Metroid Prime Trilogy. The rumor may have a lot more fact behind it than normal as a Swedish retailer named Inet posted this link to what appears to be a professional cover of the game for the Nintendo Switch. It's not entirely out of the realm of possibility as the 2009 title would be prime to get a remake with new graphics for the current console, but our main question to this is… why?
Seriously, with fans screaming on Twitter for a new Metroid game, you'd think Nintendo would be putting more effort into creating a new game as opposed to just refreshing older titles. It makes sense for the Wii U games that are fresh and recent, but going back nearly a decade? Unless it's a preamble to Metroid Prime 4, this feels like a consolation prize for not having a Metroid game by now. The current theory on Twitter today is that it will be revealed during The Game Awards, so we'll be watching tomorrow night to see what's up.
