Here's what's happening for the Mega Rayquaza Raid Day event in Pokémon GO:

• Date and time: Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time
• Event bonuses:
  • Remote Raid Pass limit increased to 20 from Friday, October 17, at 5:00 p.m. to Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. PDT.
  • Receive up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a total of six).
  • Increased chance of encountering Shiny Rayquaza from Mega Raids.
• Raids:
  • Mega Rayquaza returns to Mega Raids. Defeat Mega Rayquaza to earn an encounter with Rayquaza, which can be Shiny, as well as Mega Energy for your own Rayquaza.
• Research:
  • Timed Research: A free Timed Research will be available during the event. Niantic writes:
    • "Timed Research will be available to Trainers during the event! Complete the research tasks to earn a Meteorite. Unlike other Mega-Evolving Pokémon, Rayquaza can't Mega Evolve with Mega Energy alone. Trainers hoping to Mega Evolve their Rayquaza will need to teach it the Charged Attack Dragon Ascent first! Dragon Ascent can only be learned by using Meteorites. Please note that Timed Research expires. The tasks associated with Timed Research must be completed and their rewards must be claimed before the Timed Research ends."
  • Event Ticket: For $4.99, Trainers will be able to purchase an Event Ticket that offers:
    • Receive up to eight additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a total of 14).
    • Increased chance to get Rare Candy XL from Raid Battles.
    • 50% more XP from Raid Battles.
    • 2× Stardust from Raid Battles.
    • Niantic writes:
      • "These bonuses will be effective on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Trainers who purchase the ticket will also receive additional Timed Research during the event! Complete the research tasks to earn a Meteorite. Trainers will be able to purchase and gift tickets to any of their Pokémon GO friends that they have achieved a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher with. Please note that purchases—including those made for other Trainers—are non-refundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). Tickets cannot be purchased with PokéCoins. Please note that this ticket will only be available in the in-game shop until Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. local time."
