The New Day Pay (Sponsored) Homage To 'Final Fantasy XIV' At Wrestlemania 33

If you're a wrestling fan and you don't know who The New Day are, I probably need to ask you to stop watching TNA for a second. The trio of Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston, and Big E. are one of WWE's most popular stables right now and the group basically have a license to print money. They got over with the fans in a big way by being geeky (with Woods leading the charge on the video game front) and obnoxious as heels, but when they turned face they became a marketing machine with some of the highest selling t-shirts of the past five years. The group got the company to make a damn cereal, something WWF/E didn't do for about 25 years before that. They're currently teasing ice cream, but much like CM Punk doing the same a few years ago, we'll believe it when we see it.

The trio are also high on costumes, as last year at Wrestlemania 32 they came out dressed (seen above) as characters from Dragonball Z. This year they upped the ante by dressing as characters from Final Fantasy XIV. Now granted, the game was a sponsor for the event, so basically they were sucking up a bit on this one. But it's still kinda funny to see video games cross over into a genre like pro-wrestling. If you're curious, they dressed up as a Bard, Samurai, and a Red Mage. Their graphics package on the big screens even had them riding a Chocobo with a Moogle in hand. Look for Woods to start pushing for custom characters in the next update for the game.
