The New 'Sonic Mania' Trailer Confirms A Release Date

In what looks, feels and sounds like one of the best trailers we could have possibly gotten for the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise, SEGA used a combination of 2D gameplay footage and pencil animation to show off Sonic Mania. At the end of the trailer, we finally get the official release date of August 15th, 2017 (the game will be coming out on PS4, PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch). Keen fans will be stoked to see a nod to the original titles (which may indicate all the games we'll see in Sonic Mania) in the elevator.

As a side note, it's also nice to see an animation style that matches the Sonic The Hedgehog cartoon show that ran in the mid-'90s. Sonic Mania looks like a traditional Sonic game, but it isn't just going to be a nostalgia run as we've seen they've been making new levels in the Sonic style. In any case, the trailer is awesome.
