'Odyssey of the Dragonlords': Explore the Perils of Ancient Realms for 5e
Odyssey of the Dragonlords is a brand new game setting coming to 5E at the end of 2019, and it has a pedigree behind it that should be pretty thrilling for fantasy gaming fans.
Odyssey of the Dragonlords is the first foray into publishing pen and paper adventuring for Arcanum Worlds as a publisher, but the brains behind Arcanum Worlds are no strangers to fantasy gaming.
James Ohlen was a writer and designer for BioWare's Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, as well as Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age: Origins, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
Jesse Sky also worked with BioWare as a writer and designer on Star Wars: The Old Republic, SWTOR Galactic Strongholds, SWTOR Shadow of Revan, and SWTOR Knights of the Fallen Empire.
Ohlen and Sky are joined by New York Times bestselling author Drew Karpyshyn, who helped flesh out the lore behind Odyssey of the Dragonlord's setting.
Oh, what a setting it is:
In a land where even the gods are bound by oaths and prophecies…
At the dawn of time, a war between the gods and Titans left the world of Thylea forever changed. Thousands of years later, the first mortals arrived, carried by ship and dragon.
The Dragonlords were the champions who overthrew the Titans 500 years ago and forged the Oath of Peace. But the power of the Oath has waned, and now the Titans seek vengeance.
You are one of the heroes called by prophecy to end the conflict once and for all. Poets will sing of your deeds for centuries to come… if you survive.
If this sounds at all familiar, it should- Odyssey of the Dragonlords borrows heavily from Greek mythology, but with a heartbeat all its own:
In developing 'Odyssey of the Dragonlords', we took inspiration from the ancient Greek epics, including The Odyssey, The Iliad, and The Argonautica. We were also influenced by classic films such as Jason and the Argonauts and Clash of the Titans. The world of Thylea is designed to capture the magic of Greek mythology: being called by prophecy, sailing into the unknown, and battling against the gods themselves.
The artwork is absolutely stunning, and comes from some of the best creators in the industry, including Marc Simonetti, Sebastian Kowoll, Chris Anderson, andWadim Kashin.
The primary game book has a lot packed between its covers, too, clocking in at 280 pages full of monsters, magic items, and epic characters!
Odyssey of the Dragonlords hit its funding goals multiple time over pretty early on in its Kickstarter campaign, and was able to hit quite a few stretch goals, too.

Modiphius Entertainment will be handling printing and distribution for Odyssey of the Dragonlords, which was a smart move- Modiphius is really good at putting out high-quality books, and has a great track record for delivering product on time!
