Old-School Style With Substance as We Review the AZIO Aventa Gaming Mouse

The last time we got a product from AZIO, it was their amazing Retro Classic Gaming Keyboard which we instantly fell in love with. This time around, the company sent us a pretty good item to compliment it in their new Aventa Gaming Mouse. This isn't quite the gaming mouse you may think it is as we discovered a few things about it that others don't have. But does adding new items equal a better gaming mouse? We plugged it in and ran through our Steam library with it to see how it holds up.

The first thing that caught our attention was the weight and the design, as this mouse has a zinc alloy exoskeletal frame giving it a shiny metallic look but also throwing a bit of weight into what you're doing. While it looks like a simple mouse to a casual eye, it actually has seven buttons, including the scroll wheel. You get three on the side for your thumb for moderate customization that doesn't feel out of place or like you're trying to find a number dial. The design is capped off with metal meshes on the side and LED backlighting to show off the wheel and the logo on the side. Everything about it gives off this classic/modern design, just like the keyboard we reviewed before.

The DPI settings are pretty cool as you can get up to 6400 with the leading pixart 3360 optical sensors. One of the cool little features is that the DPI settings will change with the color, so as you cycle through each one, the color on the mouse will briefly change to let you know what DPI you are on. So no need to look it up or guesswork based on how it feels at the moment. This particular mouse comes with a six-foot threaded cable to prevent it from wearing out instantly, meaning you'll get several years out of it if you take care of it, or a few really good ones if you're gaming 24/7.

As far as gameplay goes, this mouse moves like a dream and doesn't really have any downsides to it. We were able to aim like a pro in PUBG and Fortnite, and work our magic in Overwatch with little resistance. The only issue I could see some people having is not liking the weight to it. There's a bit of heft, which we don't mind and actually work best with a mouse that has some push to the glide. But there are people who would probably prefer a lighter unit and there's no way that we can find to change it.

As far as gaming mouses go, AZIO really has an awesome setup going for this one. This is what I would call an advanced mouse for people whoa re done being beginning gamers and feel like they're ready to up their game to the next level, but aren't quite ready to jump into a setup that has a lot more customization going for it. It's very middle-of-the-road for learning how to game like a master. The company also isn't charging an arm and a leg for it as this model only costs $80, where others on the market like it would go for $100-130. If you're looking for something with style that you can up your game with, this is one to check out. But also be aware, you will need to get used to the weight.
