'Pokémon GO' Bringing Mewtwo To Exclusive Raid Battles

Those of you begging for Mewtwo to be added to Pokémon GO are about to get your wish — but probably not the way you expected. Niantic is adding a brand new system called "Exclusive Raids" that will be focused in primary cities around the world instead of randomly at any ol' gym, which will probably anger a lot of players, as we're betting the U.S. spots will mostly hit the coastlines.

Plus, these battles will be the ONLY place you can fight to get a Mewtwo, so have fun seeking out the rarest Pokémon in the game when you already have a limited chance of getting a battle to begin with. Here's a snippet of the details from Niantic themselves.

"Exclusive Raid Battles are similar to existing Raid Battles, with a few notable differences. Exclusive raids will periodically appear at Gyms around the world; however, unlike existing raids, Trainers will be invited to join an Exclusive Raid Battle. To receive an invitation to participate in an Exclusive Raid Battle, Trainers must have successfully completed a raid recently, by defeating the Raid Boss, at the Gym where the Exclusive Raid Battle will be taking place. The invitations will include advance warning of when the Exclusive Raid will take place, giving them ample time to coordinate with other Trainers before taking on the powerful Raid Boss."

Niantic gave no time table as to when these raids would go active, but given their current pattern with the legendary creatures in Pokémon GO, I'd say expect it within the next two weeks.
