PUBG has Suspended Player to Player Item Transfers to Stop Third Party Sites

PUBG Corp. has announced that player to player item trading has been temporarily suspended. This is in an effort to stop third-party skin trading sites.

PUBG's marketplace has always been a weird one. The lootbox nature of the game means it's littered with cheap items, but also has some that are worth up to hundreds of dollars. There does seem to be an expensive hunger to look good in game, but also sell the times for money. If you go through Steam's official marketplace itself, you get store credit for your sales, however, there are third-party sites where you can sell items for real world money.

Or rather, you could. PUBG Corp. has now tried to combat this practice by stopping player to player item trading. In a post on Steam, the company said that it has temporarily suspended trading to find a new solution to stop third-party sellers. The developer said:

We've seen a few cases of players using the personal trade function to sell items using third party sites. This is essentially an abuse of the system. To prevent this, we're temporarily turning off personal trades while we search for a better solution. Once we figure out a way to prevent abuse, the restriction will be lifted.

While I have an issue with the market existing at all, it encouraging cheating to farm boxes in order to sell new items, this definitely seems like a move in the right direction. The value of items and their distribution has been a problem for a while, and hopefully in time, the developer can figure out a way to keep this enclosed.
