Review: UNIQLO's Overwatch Brand T-Shirts
Earlier this year, the folks over at Blizzard managed to get together with UNIQLO and put together a set of Overwatch brand t-shirts. I was lucky enough to get a couple of these before they were released to the public and have been wearing them around for a while to get reactions before giving a proper review. We got two of them, the first being this purple shirt dedicated to Moira. Here we see her hand reaching out with all the augments, creating a purple health-stealing orb. In the back, as if in a tube, we see the biohazard symbol at the bottom. I love this design as it feels different. This is the kind of art you might see on one of their spray designs in the game, but with far greater detail and emphasis on the character than some random face pic. This was an absolute winner to me.
The second shirt we received was this black pocket tee. For the most part, the shirt is just a black shirt. Then you get to the pocket and you see several designs matching artwork related to Overwatch characters. In this, I can see references to Bastion, Roadhog, D.Va, Mei, Mercy, Reinhardt, and a couple of others. They're cut off, but there are specs of other designs in here, all of these taken from actual sprays in the game. I enjoy the design of this, but I kind of wish I could see more than what's here. But at the same time, if they made the entire shirt out of sprays, it would look hideous. So this is a nice compromise that's subtle enough to not be seen right off the bat, but once people see it who know what it is, it's awesome.
Overall, I really dug these two designs. I walked around PAX West wearing these on two different days and just got compliment after compliment. Even got asked a few times where they could find them, since the standard fare of vendors at conventions won't be carrying these in stock. If you're an Overwatch fan looking for something a little different, you can't go too wrong with these.
