San Francisco Shock Win Overwatch League's 2019 Championship
Capping off the second season of the Overwatch League, the San Francisco Shock went head-t0-head against the Vancouver Titans this afternoon. Both teams have pretty much been running the Pacific Division, so much so that their dominance killed any Atlantic Division team's chances of making it to the end. The two collided in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania today for the championship.
Unfortunately for the Vancouver Titans, this just wasn't their night. The night started off with a shutout victory on Lijiang Tower 2-0 in favor of the Shock, followed by a close heartbreaker of 4-3 on Eichenwalde. After a break, we came back to game three on Temple of Anubis, where in another close matchup the shock took it 4-3 and went up 3-0 in the best of seven series. The Titans looked like they were going to try and rally together for the reverse sweep, but it was not meant to be as they lost a heartbreaking match on Watchpoint: Gibraltar 3-2. The San Francisco Shock come through and crushed the Vancouver Titans ina 4-0 sweep to capture the championship.
Congrats to the San Francisco Shock for claiming the 2019 Overwatch League Championship. We look forward to what the 2020 Season has to offer with a change of format and the possibility of new teams being added to the mix.
