Square Enix & Luminous Productions Debut Project Athia On PS5 Reveal

During today's PS5 Reveal Showcase, Square Enix showed off their latest IP in the works with Luminous Productions as they debut Project Athia. The game doesn't have an official name at the moment, Hench the project term. But let's be honest, there's probably a good chance after today it's just gone get called Athia. The company released the trailer today during the reveal, but aside from some glorious visuals and what they have written below that was sent out after, there isn't any other info on the game right now.

Designed for PS5, Project Athia will harness the full power of the console and demonstrates Luminous Productions' philosophy to provide a gaming experience like never before, fusing together the latest technology with art. Project Athia will transport players to a world filled with beauty and dismay as they set upon a thrilling story-led, action-packed adventure which can be twisted, tempestuous and forbidding.

Best guess for the time being, with it being a working title and not even a release window attached to it, is that SQ decided to get the word out about their game as far in advance as they could to build up some hype. The PS5 Reveal is one of the best showcases to get the most eyes on your product, so it only makes sense they decided to do it now. The game looks pretty stunning and it has a lot of that open-world RPG feeling to it with big monsters that gives us the chills. There's almost a Shadow Of The Colossus vibe going for it. But its too early to really judge what this thing is going to end up being until we learn more about it. Which we're guessing won't be for another year.
