A Seven Year Old Spent Nearly £4000 On The Jurassic World App

unknown

There has long been a debate about the seedy underbelly of in app purchases in mobile games, specifically, in the way it targets children for a while. When targeted at the young'uns, who don't understand that their play is costing real money and are incentivised to buy as much as possible, it can create some real horror stories.

Well, here is one for you. The Crawley News report on Mohamed Shugaa's who ended up with a bill of £3911 after his seven year old son played the Jurassic World app, spending a ton of money. He is now looking for a refund from Apple.

This is no good to hear about, and I really think we have to find more safeguards to stop this happening. I also think that developers who try to get children to spend as much of their parents money as possible are also a problem, but hey, I guess the toy industry has been doing it for years, so I doubt we will see that change.
