Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be a fascinating project. Seeing CD Projekt RED go into the sci-fi space should be a real treat. The real question now though is how soon can we expect it? I initially thought quite a few years from now, but the game has been making a lot of noise recently.
In fact, CD Projekt RED know exactly when the game is going to be in our hands too, they just don't want to tell use yet. Speaking on a recent Polish tv appearance (translated by NeoGAF) the chief executive officer Adam Kicinski said:
We already have the release date for Cyberpunk 2077 planned, but we won't announce it until we are ready to start the marketing campaign. At the moment we're concentrating on The Witcher and don't want to distract users from that product, which we are still monetizing.
Of course, this isn't a huge indicator of anything by itself as most games will have projected release dates. As I said though, I do find myself writing about the game more and more of late, and that is usually a good sign that marketing is readying to ramp up.
