Kojima Production's First Solo Game Will Use A Third Party Engine To Get It Out Sooner
It's not an understatement to say that Hideo Kojima's first title since leaving Konami is well anticipated. The mystery game is bound to be in the shadows awhile longer, but it seems as if steps are being taken to get it out quicker.
Speaking during Nordic Game 2016, Kojima said that the new title will be built on an existing engine. While he would like to build it internally, he's revealed that he has made the compromise to get the game out to hungry fans sooner.
As for my first title, because I want to release it to the people who are waiting for it, for that title we are going to use a third-party engine. The reason I am traveling around the world is looking for such technology to use.
The question is when will we see the game? It must be a few years out still, as this search for an engine can't have ended long ago, if it even has yet. When will the game make its first appearance though? That's the million dollar question right now.
(I might put a sly tenner on 'something' at E3.)
