Microsoft And Square Enix Are Very Happy With Rise Of The Tomb Raider's Performance
Rise of the Tomb Raider didn't light up the charts like some games this year. That's likely down to the game only being on Xbox One this year and also bafflingly launching the same day as Fallout 4. On the other hand though, it has done very well for itself in terms of critical and fan reaction.
It seems that the game's two publishers are satisfied with the title as well. The game's performance in reviews has left Square Enix and Microsoft happy. On the TombRaiderForums, game director Brian Horton responded to concerns that the game wasn't performing very well, saying:
I didn't mean to go off topic or patronise, but there was suggestion in the thread that the reported sales numbers reflect poorly on the dev team.
Square/Microsoft are happy with Crystal and Eidos Montreal and the game itself. As to the topic of sales, I'm unqualified to discuss it so I won't have anything else to say on this thread.
Microsoft and Square are very happy with Rise and the dev team, thanks for the concerns. Crystal and Eidos Montreal made a game we are proud of and we appreciate the overwhelming number of positive reviews and fan feedback.
It's good to hear, as the game really does deserve it. It is a very solid title, and I wish it all the best going forward.
