Rise Of The Tomb Raider Wins Writer's Guild Award
Each year, The Writers Guild of America dip their toes into the world of video games, and awards a winner. It's always been a weird one, only really rewarding huge games and passing over smaller offerings. But hey, it's the mainstream trying to engage, so I encourage it.
The award for best writing in a video game was given out last night, and Rise of the Tomb Raider was triumphant. It beat out The Witcher 3, Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and Pillars of Eternity (One of these things is not like the others…).
The story of RotTR is one of the the biggest problems I had with the game, with it mostly nailing everything else. But then again, I wouldn't give best story to any of those game nominated really, but hey, I guess that is why I'm not in the Writer's Guild.
Although I will say, every game nominated has beautiful story moments that deserve praise, so I can live with that too.
