Talk of a new mainline addition to The Elder Scrolls series has followed Bethesda since 2011 when Skyrim came out. With Bethesda Softworks now having Fallout 4 out of the way too, that talk is starting to kick up again.
Back at E3, Bethesda's Todd Howard had made comments about the prospective sequel, saying that the idea was in place for the game. This seems to have gotten confused for him confirming the game is in production.
Responding to a PCGamesN article on Twitter, VP of Marketing, Pete Hines said that the game wasn't actually being worked on right now in any capacity. He clarified:
fyi, the elder scrolls vi isn't in development. we simply said we would make it eventually. don't want people to be misled
Of course, a big take away here is again that The Elder Scrolls 6 will one day be a thing. It seems that it won't be for quite some time though.
