Directed by Emmy winner Ava DuVernay, the long-awaited film was lovingly adapted by Oscar winner Jennifer Lee and Jeff Stockwell from the generation-favorite novel by Madeleine L'Engle. Centering on a fantastical science fiction journey to find her missing physicist father (Chris Pine), young Meg Murry (Storm Reid) and her younger brother younger brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe) travel with neighbor Calvin (Levi Miller) across time and space.  Along the way, they meet the three Mrs. — Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon) and Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling) — whose lessons and advice help Meg on her ultimate adventure.

While A Wrinkle in Time did marginally well in theaters, it did not do as well as the other Disney release in February 2018 (Black Panther). That said, we're really looking forward to the home release.

For special features, it looks like we're getting on the Blu-ray and Digital HD release:

  • A Journey Through Time: Take an up-close look at the making of this magnificent movie with Director Ava DuVernay, Oprah Winfrey, and the cast and crew.
  • Deleted Scenes (with optional director audio commentary): "Ant on a String", "Aunt Beast", "Meg Learns About Calvin's Dad", and "Papergirl"
  • Audio Commentary with Director Ava DuVernay, Producer Jim Whitaker, Co-Screenwriter Jennifer Lee, Production designer Naomi Shohan, First assistant director Michael Moore, Editor Spencer Averick and VFX supervisor Rich McBride
  • Bloopers
  • 2 Original Songs and Music Videos: "I Believe" performed by DJ Khaled featuring Demi Lovato and "Warrior" performed by Chloe x Halle

A Wrinkle in Time releases on May 29th on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD and Movies Anywhere. The Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, DVD, and On-Demand releases are set for June 5th.

About Mary Anne Butler

Bleeding Cool News Editor Mary Anne Butler (Mab, for short) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), and most recently Bleeding Cool.

Over the past 10 years, she’s built a presence at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always).
