Disneyland Says Goodbye To The Paper Disney Fastpass

I've only been to Disneyland once, in 2015. I'd like to go back one day, but I'm a little hung up on my love affair with Disney World. However, Disneyland is an iconic park, full of amazing things. And up until this past weekend, the park was still using the paper Disney Fastpass for the more popular attractions. According to the OC Registrar, guests will need to scan their park tickets to obtain the Fastpass for certain rides. This is pretty similar to what Disney World does, but at WDW, you can make your Fastpass selections ahead of time.

Eventually, Disneyland will move to a Maxpass system, where guests can make their Fastpass selections ahead of time for $10/day. Personally, I think that's silly, as it's free (or absorbed in the cost of admission, for all I know) at Disney World. This just seems like a convenient way to make more money off of tourists and regular park attendees, and I sincerely hope they switch over to how it's done at the Orlando park.

Disney Fastpass

• Insert your park admission ticket into one of the kiosks at a Fastpass distribution station. Take the paper ticket printed with the return time, just as you did previously.

• That slip of paper, however, is only a reminder. The FastPass is now linked to your daily park admission pass or annual pass. You can toss the FastPass receipt (provided you've memorized the return time) or keep it as a souvenir.

• Head to the ride at any point during your hour-long return window. Scan your park ticket at the digital reader at the entrance of the FastPass queue. Once the ring on the top of the reader glows green, continue on. You'll scan your ticket one more time closer to the load area.
