Disney's Cinderella To Go Head to Head with Kate Middleton

There is a lot more to the Royal Wedding than tea towels, mugs and stamps,* it provides that once in a generation opportunity to find your inner princess. Now, thanks to Disney, you can spend that long holiday weekend at the end of April flicking between Westminster Abbey on the TV and the DVD of Cinderella.

Disney tends to release its classic animations in DVD spurts, strictly limited in duration. The current film being allowed out of the vault is Bambi (I can't help but wonder which event that might commemorate). A new press release announces that, on 4 April, Disney is kicking off the Royal Wedding celebrations with the limited (and earlier than originally scheduled) release of Cinderella. The release is further limited because the DVD will be distributed only in the UK, where Princess Fever will be at its height.

Might be worth pre-ordering now.

Mike Stagg, VP of sales in the UK and Ireland for The Walt Disney Company announced:

The Royal Wedding is a once in a generation opportunity and the Disney Princess franchise fits perfectly with the occasion. From Disney Princess party items to dress-up, music, video games and the special release of Cinderella on DVD, we're confident our offering will give retailers the right products to leverage the heightened consumer interest in all things Princess.

I hope that William and Kate take their responsibility seriously.
