Do It Yourself Netflix Socks

I'm honestly not sure if this is supposed to be real…

This video is for a pair of homemade Netflix socks that some how senses when you fall asleep during a binge watching session and pauses the episode. I love the idea… but if this is supposed to be real, what is the science behind this? What tells the socks you're asleep? It can't be positional. Does it take your pulse? Listens for snoring?

I have so many questions now… why did you do this to me Netflix? Why?

The socks do look warm though. And I could use them for my planned end of the year binge re-watching of Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Maybe Santa will hook me up.
