Dying Light Physical Copies Delayed In Europe, Australia, Asia And Africa

dying-light-box-art-001Now this is bizarre. Dying Light is set to be the first major release this year with a January 27th release date. The game comes from Techland, the fathers of Dead Island, and mixes that first person zombie slaying with Mirror's Edge type parkour.

The game is still slated for release on the 27th, but in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia, don't expect to go into your local game store and pick up a physical copy. On the official Facebook page, it was announced that physical copies in those territories were going to be delayed. The statement reads:

There will be a short delay in the release of physical copies of Dying Light in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia. The game will have a global digital release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC of January 27, 2015. As physical production has a longer lead time than digital there is some delay in the aforementioned territories. We will share information on the availability of physical copies as soon as it is confirmed.

It's not unheard of for physical copies to be delayed, but it's rare, especially on this scale. You'll still be able to pick the game up digitally on its release date, so don't worry too much about that.

Still, this is a significant bungle and I'm sure there will be some fallout between the developers and those who pre-ordered physical copies. I certainly hope that a 'short delay' stays that way.
