Fate Of The Furious Has Largest Global Box Office Opening

Fate of the Furious has broken the record for the largest global box office opening ever. Domestically the film came in at a very good $100.2M, but the international market is where they really revved their engines brining in $432.3M for a combined $532.5M. This passes the previous top film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens which brought in $529M worldwide. The film was number one in ever country it opened in and was the biggest opening weekend in 17 of those countries.

The biggest bulk of the films take comes from China at a whopping $190M… which is the biggest 3 day start of all time and the top debut for a Hollywood film. The top opening of all time still belongs to The Mermaid which had a 4 day opening weekend last year.

Other markets the film open strongly in: Mexico $17.8M; the UK ($17M); Russia ($14.1M); Germany ($13.6M); Brazil ($12.8M); France ($10.5M); Korea ($10.5M); India ($10.4M); and Taiwan ($9.7M).
