Game Of Thrones Hits Series High, In Spite Of Leaked Episode
Game of Thrones did pretty well on Sunday night, in spite of the hackers who seem hell-bent on leaking info. The HBO series, now in it's seventh season, hit an all-time viewership high with 10.2 million people tuning in for Spoils of War, the fourth episode of the penultimate season. The previous series high was the season premiere just a few weeks back on July 16th, which came in at 10.1 million.
This has to be very pleasant news for HBO executives after reports of a massive data breach a while back and the expectation that the rest of the season would be leaked online. It seems that the fans of the George R. R. Martin series are used to being patient and waited for the regular time slot instead of watching the leaked episode two days early.
The series, adapted by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, is well past the published novels and is working now on information given by the author. The next book in the series, The Winds of Winter has been in the works for six years and it's questionable if it will be complete prior to the airing of the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones.
The seven-episode Season 7 of Game of Thrones wraps up on August 27th.
