Venerable voice actor Harry Shearer is leaving the long running animated series the Simpsons after 26 seasons. According to Fox, when the network renewed the series for two more seasons, Shearer was offered the same deal as everyone else and passed on it. The disagreement appears to be over the schedule that the network wanted him to agree to. Shearer has other projects he is working on and the schedule would prevent him from doing so.
Shearer is the voice of Mr. Burns, Waylan Smithers, Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner, Otto Mann, Lenny Leonard, Reverend Lovejoy, Scratchy, Jebadiah Springfield, God and many more.
Fox says the characters voiced by Shearer will not be killed of, but rather recast.
Has quietly been working at Bleeding Cool for over three years. He has written comics for Image, Top Cow, Shadowline, Avatar, IDW, Dynamite, Moonstone, Humanoids and Zenescope. He is the author of the Lucius Fogg series of novels and a published photographer.
