Inhuman TV Series Doesn't Replace The Planned Feature Film
Yes, you read that headline right.
According to the Disney / ABC Television President Ben Sherwood, the planned Inhumans television series that will debut in Imax theaters does not replace the planned feature film.
Sherwood also told THR.com that the new series is not a spin-off of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, but he hopes that it will have a halo effect, bringing new viewers to both series. That is if Agents of SHIELD returns for a fifth season.
The plan, originally announced Nov 14th, is to have the first two episodes of the straight-to-series Inhumans shot with Imax cameras and debut on Labor Day 2017 in over 1,000 theaters in 74 countries and run for two weeks before the show debuts on ABC. To offset the increased cost of shooting that way, word is that Imax is picking up the tab for the first two episodes.
It says Imax approached Marvel looking for opportunities like this after their Game of Thrones stunt to promote the season five trailer grossed $2 million back in 2015.
Sherwood looks at this as an innovative way to cut through the almost 500 original series on the television landscape.
