Kevin Feige Says Most People Are Unfamiliar with the Eternals and That's a Good Thing

What the Marvel universe is going to look like post-Avengers 4 is still very much up for grabs. There are a couple of announced projects but the details of most of these projects are being kept under wraps. One of the projects we know almost nothing about is the announced movie based on the Eternals. Marvel mega-boss Kevin Feige was interviewed by Bionic Buzz and they asked him about the project. He couldn't share much but he did reveal why he thinks everyone being unfamiliar with the characters is a good thing.

I can tell you very little when it comes to Eternals but what I will say is that your reaction, about not being familiar with Eternals, is perfect. Because most people weren't familiar with Guardians and, believe it or not, there were people unfamiliar with the Avengers or Iron Man. So, for us, it's finding great stories, whether people have heard of them or not, and bringing them to the big screen in as an amazing way as we can.

It's very true that even Iron Man was not that well known of a character before the 2008 movie. The fact that Marvel didn't have access (at the time) to more well-known characters like the X-Men or Spider-Man meant they had to take chances on characters that sound like they shouldn't work like Thor or even Captain America.

The next Marvel project will bring Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel to the big screen. Feige revealed in the same interview that this story will be based on the Kelly Sue DeConnick version of the character.

Summary: Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.

Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will also star Brie Larson, Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is set for release on March 8th, 2019.
