Madame Web: 5 More Low Effort Character Posters
Yesterday, Sony Pictures released 5 low effort character posters for Madame Web and today, we got 5 more low effort character posters.
Article Summary
- Sony releases more low effort 'Madame Web' character posters.
- Posters criticized for rehashing images with basic Photoshop filters.
- Marketing strategy questioned in wake of unflattering leaks.
- Madame Web film's impressive cast highlighted amid concerns.
Yesterday, we wrote about how baffling the marketing push for Madame Web has been. There has been almost nothing released so far, and last week, the suits of all the characters were shown in terrible quality on drink bottles, and, for some reason that is beyond everyone, Sony is not trying to counter that leak by releasing their own still that actually looks halfway decent. Instead, we got five character posters that looked like they were made by someone who had just discovered what Photoshop was and then was given a deadline of less than two hours to get that turned in and a behind-the-scenes featurette. Today, IMP Awards released five more character posters, which, like the others, are incredibly low effort. It's the same images from the character posters released yesterday; in fact, they are the same images we have seen in every single promotional image released so far, and this time, they added a few different Photoshop filters. These posters are a little better than yesterday's, but not by much.
It really feels like Sony is just dropping the ball on this film, considering the impressive cast attached to Madame Web. We can hope that they learned from Morbius that you can trend on X/Twitter all you want and get meme'd into the next century, but none of that will translate into ticket sales.
