Mark Millar's Superior Heading For The Big Screen, Produced By Matthew Vaughn
The comic book adaptation team over there at Fox are sticking together for a little while longer. THR reports the studio has picked up the rights to adapt Mark Millar's limited run series Superior for the big screen, and Kick Ass and The Secret Service director Matthew Vaughn will be taking producing duties this time around. He's not attached as a director, but I bet that could change in the future.
The story follows a 12 year old boy whose popularity and life deteriorates after he's diagnosed with MS. One night he's visited by an alien monkey who grants him one wish. He wishes to become like his favorite superhero, a Superman-esque figure called Superior, and it comes true. However, these fables are all about "be careful what you wish for" after all, and he soon realizes that there is a steep price for continuing his newfound charmed existence – he must sell his soul.
The limited series ran between 2010 and 2012 on Marvel imprint Icon. Fox is now searching for a screenwriter to adapt the material for the big screen.
