New Mutants Has Officially Wrapped Production

New Mutants has wrapped its primary production, according to an image posted by director Josh Boone on Instagram. Boone and various cast members took to social media to celebrate the end of filming for the X-Men movie, due out in a mere seven months.

New Mutants is promising to be a different type of X-Men movie. Boone has called it a horror movie, and Fox could be heading a different direction with the X-Men. Thus far, there hasn't been a lot of variety in tone, genre, or even theme to the X-Men movies before Deadpool. Now Deadpool is getting a sequel, and we're getting a superhero horror movie in this new film. Now that production had wrapped, we should see our first footage in the next couple of months.

The film has had a very quick production — it began filming on July 9th, and will now enter post-production. Horror movies are usually filmed quicker than most, so no surprise there.

Summary: The story of the New Mutants, a team of mutant heroes comprised of the first graduates from Charles Xavier's school.

X-Men: New Mutants, directed by Josh Boone, stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Alice Braga, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, and Henry Zaga. It will be released on April 18th, 2018.
