After Fox-Disney Deal, New Mutants Teaser Promises Things Will Only Get Darker

The entity formerly known as Fox and soon to be known as Disney released a new teaser for the upcoming movie New Mutants. Directed by Josh Boone and starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Alice Braga, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Blu Hunt, and Henry Zaga, The New Mutants has a decidedly "horror" tone, an unusual direction for a superhero movie franchise.

However, in the wake of the announcement of a deal for Disney to purchase most of the assets of 21st Century Fox for $52.4 billion in stock, one of the many concerns amongst moviegoers is that the opportunity for taking chances on flicks like this will be gone in a world where Disney owns everything. Seemingly playing into these concerns, the latest Twitter teaser for the film declares, "Things will only get darker."

Is the New Mutants Twitter account speaking to the fears we all have regarding the Fox/Disney deal? When they say things will get darker, do they mean in terms of Disney consolidating more and more power and continuing to use its influence to rob from all of humanity by halting the progress of the public domain and eventually retaining ownership over all of the entertainment intellectual property in the world indefinitely?

Maybe. Or maybe it's all just a big coincidence. Then again, nothing is ever a coincidence.

New Mutants hits theaters on on April 13th, 2018.

About Jude Terror

A prophecy says that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero will come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Scourge of Rich Johnston, maker of puns, and seeker of the Snyder Cut, Jude Terror, sadly, is not the hero comics needs right now... but he's the one the industry deserves.
