Open Casting Call For 'Fantastic Beasts 2'

fantastic beats

Do you want to be in the next Fantastic Beasts movie? If you're a teenager 13-16 years old you're in luck. The spin-off Harry Potter movies are apparently going even further back in time as they are looking to cast teenage versions of their main cast according to Pottermore and Collider.

"An open casting call has gone out for three actors between the ages of 13 and 16 to play young versions of Newt, Leta, and another character called Sebastian. They are also looking for actors between 16 and 18 to portray both Gellert Grindelwald and Albus Dumbledore as teenagers."

So they are looking for young versions of Newt so we might get to see his expulsion from Hogwarts or the thing that made him such an animal advocate. Leta Lestrange is mentioned to be a close friend of Newt's when he was a student so there is a chance she could play a larger role in the movies going forward. Gellert Grindelwald and Albus Dumbledore is not that surprising, since the movies look focus much more on them now, but it could prove to be interesting to see these two men dance around each other. Jude Law already has the role of young Dumbledore and Johnny Depp is Grindelwald. Sebastian is a new character we don't know anything about.

There are more details over at Pottermore. The Harry Potter movies have done open casting calls before with Faith Wood-Blagrove winning the role of Modesty in Fantastic Beats and in 2006 Evanna Lynch infamously overcame an eating disorder to win the role of Luna Lovegood.

Summary: The second installment of the 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' series which follows the adventures of Newt Scamander.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2, directed by David Yates, stars Johnny Depp, Katherine Waterston, Zoë Kravitz, Eddie Redmayne, and Jude Law. It will be released on November 16, 2018.
