New Pet Sematary Film Signs Up Samantha Mathis & Henry Thomas

There is a new Pet Sematary film coming, and two more screen veterans have hopped aboard the cast. Samantha Mathis and Henry Thomas will join Jackson White, Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Natalie Alyn Lind, Isabella Star LeBlanc, and Pam Grier. The film is being made for Paramount+ and directed by Lindsey Beer, who also wrote the script from a story by Jeff Buhler. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing. This is the fourth Pet Sematary film, after the original in 1989, a sequel in 1992, and a remake in 2019. The news was reported by Deadline.

I Guess This Might Be A Prequel To Pet Sematary?

When the news first broke about this film, it was said to be an "origin" story, so that means prequel. My guess is we get to see the origins of the burial ground that reanimates whatever is put into the earth. So, a period piece. That could be way off, but that is what makes the most sense to me.

"Mathis can next be seen in the Miramax thriller The Georgetown Project opposite Russell Crowe and Sam Worthington. She recently starred in Showtime's hit series Billions, Being Frank alongside Jim Gaffigan and Anna Gunn, IFC's acclaimed thriller The Clovehitch Killer, and Ewan McGregor's feature directorial debut American Pastoral. She was recently seen in Jason Blum's Hulu anthology series Into the Dark, Guillermo del Toro's The Strain and The Good Wife. Thomas more recently can be seen on TV starring in the Netflix original series The Haunting of Bly Manor and The Haunting of Hill House based on the novels by Shirley Jackson. He will also appear in the upcoming Netflix limited series Midnight Mass, which is set to premiere next month."

The new Pet Sematary film started production last week. Look for more as we learn it.
