How Rise of the Planet of the Apes led to the events to be chronicled in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is the focus of a new featurette/viral video released for the Matt Reeves sequel.
The Simian Flu, inadvertently created by the CDC in the first film, quickly becomes a worldwide pandemic, and five years, then six, then seven later, there's still no cure and the human population succumbs to near extinction as governments shut down and even more horrifically, the internet completely crashes permanently.
And all this before the real movie even begins.
