Robots And Demons… What Are The Agents Of SHIELD Up To?
There was some speculation recently that Ghost Rider may be coming to Marvel Agents of SHIELD when a picture of a bus was posted on line showing the series logo along with a flaming chain. But many people dismissed it as being connected to the character Hellfire who we met last season.
Now folks are rethinking that as word of a new casting call has come out thanks to TVLine. The report says they are casting both Aida, a very attractive robot that is likely tied into the LMD's mentioned in the season finale. But that they are also casting a pair of Latino brothers where one is the most dangerous person in the room and the other is in a wheelchair.
Now that doesn't sound like Johnny Blaze… but it does sound like Robbie and Gabe Reyes from the Marvel Now Ghost Rider series from 2014 by Felipe Smith and Tradd Moore. In the comic series, Robbie dies when he is accidentally caught in a shootout, but the ties to his 1969 Dodge Charger allows him to return with the spirit of Eli Morrow and the abilities of Ghost Rider…. though he's more of a Ghost Driver.
The character would be visually challenging on a TV budget, so I'm still a bit skeptical until we hear an official announcement. But I could see the characters being part of a story arc but not the whole season. This is a way for the TV universe to tap into the Ghost Rider franchise without locking up the main version most people know.
