Rock – Paper – Simmons: Elizabeth Henstridge Talks Agents of SHIELD Season 3

* Spoliers * If you haven't seen the finale episode of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD season 2… because you thought it would be better after the last Jon Stewart hosted Daily Show or something… then you might want to step away now as there are a few spoilers here.

Still here?

SimmonsThe final scene in last season's finale had a nice moment between Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) where the two decide to go to dinner together. Finally following up on Fitz's confession of love at the end of season one. Take about taking it slow. After Fitz heads off to figure out where to eat, Simmons returns to the large Kree rock obelisk she had been examining. The obelisk liquefies, grabs Simmons and pulls her in, then returns to its solid rock form. Roll credits… see you in the fall.

So what happened and how soon do we get to find out? TVLine spoke with Henstridge about the new season.

Were going to find out what happened to Simmons pretty quickly. She's definitely changed by the experience, and what's happened to her is going to impact the season — kind of as a theme or something like that.

Henstridge was surprised when she discovered just what the writers had in store for Simmons.

I didn't think that they'd go that far with it, honestly. I thought, 'Shes probably just inside the rock. Stuck.' But all my ideas are quite boring. [The writers'] imaginations are much better than mine.

And finally she spoke about the possible effect the event may have on the character.

It will be interesting to see if her views on Inhumans have changed at all and how that alters her relationships with the other people. It's going to be a really great thing for me to sink my teeth into!

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD returns on September 29th to ABC.
