Ryan Reynolds Offers Gift For One-Year Anniversary Of Deadpool Release Date
Yesterday marked the one-year anniversary of the release of Deadpool. The film had been in development since 2004, with Ryan Reynolds coming on board after portraying a terrible version of the character that no one liked in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009. It took the leaking of test footage, and an enthusiastic reaction from fans, to finally get the movie made. The rest, of course, is history. Deadpool is now the highest grossing R-rated film of all time and also the highest grossing X-Men film, encouraging superhero filmmakers who don't understand anything about the care and love for the character that went into making Deadpool successful to consider making all their films R-rated films as well.
To celebrate all of this, Reynolds took to Instagram to share an anniversary gift with fans in the spirit of the character:
