Taron Egerton Taks Elton John's Story in 'Rocketman' Featurette

We are seriously hopeful that Sir Elton John biopic Rocketman from Paramount Pictures gives us everything we were missing in Bohemian Rhapsody. Yes, we know, two very different personalities, but are they really? Not to mention, Dexter Fletcher (who stepped in to complete Rhapsody for FOX following the firing of Bryan Singer) is directing this one, too.

That said, we think Taron Egerton was the PERFECT choice to tell the tale of Elton John, as made very apparent by this new featurette just released by the studio. (And, of course, the animated film Sing)

Written by Lee HallRocketman will cover Sir Elton John's emergence as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music and his journey to becoming a music superstar. Dexter Fletcher will be directing the feature for Marv Films. Elton John, David FurnishMatthew VaughnAdam Bohling, and David Reid are producing.

Jamie Bell will portray John's longtime writing partner Bernie TaupinBryce Dallas Howard will play John's mother Sheila FarebrotherRichard Madden (Game of Thrones) will play John Reid, former lover and manager of John's.

Rocket Man is set to hit theaters on May 31st, 2019.
